Gaelan Zenas

“The inertia of the mind urges it to slide down the easy slope of imagination, rather than to climb the steep slope of introspection.”
― Marcel Proust

Born Gaelan Z. Andrade Booker, Gaelan is a thinker and originator. His childhood love for reading & words would eventually evolve into writing in his mature years. Today he writes essays and authors stories that he'd enjoy, a mix of speculative and literary fiction that can be considered Slipstream with notes of mysticism and futurism. Although still relatively new to storytelling he joined the 2020 cohort of the Be On Deck Writers Fellowship to put his money where his mouth is and learn the craft. He published a guest piece for Tiny Tea Tales based in far-out Bengaluru, and no longer feels like crying when receiving submission rejections. He also offers his time and support in writer communities—because, let’s be honest, writing is the socially acceptable art of ghosting the entire world for a week which often requires reintegration into society, adequate amounts of daylight, and wearing actual clothing other than sweat pants

Outside of storytelling, Gaelan memorizes biochemical pathways as a med student at NUNM, transforms into a seven year old whenever riding motorcycles, and finds his son's taste for expensive foods fascinating and terrifying.
